What is the NEWOLUTION PV Check?
The NEWOLUTION PV Check is a browser-based software solution for calculating, planning and selling photovoltaic systems. It helps installers and sales organisations calculate solar yields, plan systems, produce financial analyses and generate quotes directly from the platform.
The PV Check is aimed at installers, installation companies and sales organisations in the photovoltaic sector that want to digitalise their quotation and planning processes. It is used by craft businesses, sales cooperations, energy providers and municipal initiatives, among others.
Development began in 2010. The solution has been available as an online PV calculator since 2016.
Yield and calculation basis
The yield calculation is based on irradiation data from the PVGIS database of the European Commission. Combined with roof orientation, tilt angle and installed modules, the site-specific annual yield is calculated.
For self-consumption calculations, the PV Check draws on BDEW standard load profiles. These allow a realistic estimate of the self-consumption share and feed-in level without metered data on actual consumption.
Yes. Current feed-in tariffs and grid charges are factored into the financial analysis. Together with PVGIS yield data and BDEW load profiles, this results in a complete calculation of energy flows and revenues.
Roof drawing and system planning
The roof is drawn directly in an interactive map view. The user outlines the relevant roof area, enters the tilt angle and orientation, and the PV Check derives the usable area and module layout from this.
Yes, the PV Check supports planning of multiple roof surfaces with different orientations and tilt angles – for example east-west roofs or systems with east, south and west surfaces. The tilt angle can be optimised per surface.
The 2D module layout shows the planned arrangement of solar modules on the drawn roof area. The PV Check determines which module count and configuration is achievable based on the available space.
Shading analysis
The shading analysis accounts for shading objects on and around the roof that reduce the solar yield. These include chimneys, dormers, skylights and other raised elements that cast shadows on the module surface over the course of the day and year.
Shading objects such as chimneys, dormers and skylights are entered in the system with their position and height. The PV Check then calculates the yield-reducing effect over the annual cycle and incorporates it into the yield forecast.
Financial analysis
The financial analysis calculates investment costs, payback period, self-sufficiency ratio and CO₂ savings. It shows the customer at what point the system pays for itself and how much it contributes to energy independence.
The PV Check calculates the financial performance over a period of up to 30 years.
Yes. The PV Check includes a battery storage check that models the effect of a battery on self-consumption and financial performance. It compares operation with and without storage and shows how the self-sufficiency ratio and payback period change.
The financial calculation includes system costs, PVGIS yield data, BDEW load profiles, feed-in tariffs and grid charges. For the battery storage check, the storage capacity and system costs of the battery are also factored in.
Quote generation
A quote is generated directly from the completed planning. A modular editor lets users compose quote line items, select system components and adjust text. The finished quote is available as a branded PDF document.
Yes. The PV Check supports tiered pricing, discounts and subsidies in the quote generation process, allowing complex pricing structures to be represented in full.
The generated PDF is a branded document: the company's logo, corporate identity colours and text modules are stored in the system. The result is a professional, company-specific quote for the end customer.
Lead capture and customer management
The PV Check includes lead capture functionality. Customer enquiries generated via embedded online calculators are captured directly in the system and can be processed there.
Yes. The PV Check can be integrated into an existing website as an online calculator. Prospects can carry out an initial estimate themselves – the enquiry then arrives directly as a lead in the system.
Regulatory requirements
Yes. The PV Check takes into account the requirements of § 14a EnWG (German Energy Industry Act), which covers controllable consumption devices. The corresponding planning parameters are stored in the software.
Yes. The solar peak law and the resulting feed-in limitations are taken into account in planning. The PV Check can represent the feed-in cap in the yield and financial calculation.
Interfaces and integration
The PV Check provides a REST API. This allows it to be integrated into existing IT infrastructure, CRM systems or external workflows.
Yes. A connection to Zapier is possible via the REST API. This allows automated workflows with a wide range of third-party applications to be built without custom development.
White label and multi-tenancy
Yes. The PV Check is available as a white-label solution: it can run entirely in the company's corporate design – with its own logo, CI colours and branding. Suitable for sales organisations and installers who want their own digital entry point without developing it themselves.

Onboarding begins with a joint requirements analysis to clarify use cases and workflow requirements. Implementation is carried out by NEWOLUTION's in-house development team. System integration, configuration and go-live are handled together – in compact development cycles with regular updates.
Every customer has a dedicated personal contact at NEWOLUTION. Change requests and queries are handled directly.
Because NEWOLUTION operates its own in-house development team, customisations and further developments can be implemented directly without dependency on external contractors. Features, custom calculations and integrations are built in-house.
